Boise, Idaho is…
Boise, Idaho has been incorporated as a city since 1863 but its history goes back much further. The early days of Boise include fur trading by the Hudson Bay Company, Fort Boise, and the nearby Oregon Trail.
Boise was slow to grow until very recently — and currently has more than 260,000 residents within city limits. The growth has spurred a lively culture in Boise with the addition of the arts, a prominent downtown area, and plenty of breweries.
The name “Boise” came from the French pronunciation of “les bois” — meaning “the trees!” If you want to speak like a local, make sure you call it “boy-see” (not “boy-zee”).
Visiting Boise can be a fun vacation for families, singles, or for business. Walk around the downtown area, take in a show, hit the slopes, or float the river. There is so much that Boise, Idaho offers, and it’s a perfect location to visit.
